KARACHI, May 4 ): The Sindh High Court on Tuesday extended the interim bail of senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Manzoor Wassan in assets beyond his known sources of income till June 22.
During the hearing, Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro asked the prosecutor of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) about the status of the investigation against Wassan.
The Investigation Officer (IO) has forwarded its recommendations to the NAB headquarters to close the inquiry against Manzoor Wassan, the NAB prosecutor replied to Justice Kalhoro.
To that end, the PPP leader’s lawyer stated that at the last hearing of the case, the court was told that Graft Buster Body was closing the inquiry. The NAB prosecutor replied, “We are removing the legal objections to closing the inquiry.”
After hearing arguments from both sides, the SHC bench extended Manzoor Wasan’s interim bail till June 17 and sought a progress report from the NAB on the same date.
According to the NAB, the PPP leader is accused of making more assets than his known source of income and also owns anonymous property.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has failed to file a reference against the PPP leader two years later.
