ISLAMABAD, April 29 ) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said that a high-level probe has been launched against the Pakistani ambassador to Saudi Arabia for not taking care of the workers.
He was addressing a function in Islamabad in connection with Roshan Digital Account crossing one billion dollars in deposits and launch of Roshan Apni Car and Roshan Samaaji Khidmat products.
The prime minister said he had received reports that staff at the Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia were taking bribes from workers. He assured that those found guilty would be given exemplary punishments.
Imran Khan further congratulated Roshan Digital for depositing 1 billion in the account. He said that record remittances have been received in the country during the last one year. However, he said it was just a hint of an iceberg.
“Unless we increase our exports, we will have to think of ways to bring remittances to Pakistanis abroad and come up with innovative ideas,” he added.
The Prime Minister thanked SBP Governor Raza Baqir for his role in bringing the two schemes. Enlighten your car and enlighten social service. He said that Pakistan lacks long-term planning strategy.
Referring to the new products offered under Roshan Digital Account, Imran Khan said that under Roshan’s own car, Pakistanis abroad will be able to buy cars in Pakistan at attractive mark-up rates for their family members or friends. ۔
He said that Roshan Social Service would provide a platform for Pakistanis living abroad to facilitate their donations and Zakat. He said that more such products would be launched in the future for the convenience of Pakistanis abroad.
