Lahore, April 19): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif on Monday moved a file to Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Qasim Khan to forward his bail matter to referee judge.
The development took place when the judges hearing the money laundering case handed over their separate decisions on the bail of the PML-N leader to the High Court office.
Justice Asjad Javed in his dissenting note said that the co-judge had granted bail to Shahbaz Sharif despite his refusal while Justice Sarfraz Dogar said that bail had been granted by mutual consent.
Earlier in the money laundering case, one of the judges hearing the case had raised an objection after the release of Shahbaz Sharif on bail.
Justice Asjad Javed of the Lahore High Court had agreed with the decision to grant bail to the PML-N leader. Following this, the Lahore High Court dissolved the bench hearing the references of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Sources said that from next week, Justice Alia Neelam and Justice Farooq will take action on these cases.
On April 14, 2021, the Lahore High Court granted bail to Shahbaz Sharif in a money laundering case.
The court, after hearing arguments from both the parties, directed the authorities to release him from Kot Lakhpat Jail on two sureties of Rs 5 million.
